Student Internship Programs

NISA offers student internship programs. The interns work on projects (from writing to
implementation), translate articles, write articles, work on website and organize events. After
concluding the internship period they are awarded with a certificate by NISA. The student
internship programs generally last for eight weeks.

Internship Policy & Procedures
The main objectives of the Internship Program are to:
– Provide interns with an opportunity to learn from NISA and obtain a better understanding
and a more balanced view of the institution and of NATO in general;
– Provide NISA with access to the latest theoretical knowledge that the intern can apply
through practical work assignments, as well as supplementing staff resources;
– Contribute to creating a more diverse workforce through encouraging teams to take on
interns of different nationalities, origins and backgrounds with a view, in the mid to
long-term, to providing the NISA with a diverse pool of potential future job applicants;
– Expand understanding of NATO and NISA in Alliance countries by having interns return
to their countries and/or universities after completing the internship and share their

Modelling and Simulation
Research Analysis
Project Management
Publication (Editorial Team)
Web Support Duration& Eligibility Criteria
In principle, internships will last between 3 and 10 month. Deviating periods will only be
possible in exceptional cases based on individual and/or organizational element needs. Contracts
can be terminated by either party with one week’s notice.

Application is not limited to any nationals.

Candidates must have at least two years of university studies. The programme is only open to
current students or recent graduates (degree obtained no longer than 12 months ago).

Candidates must be proficient in the use of the English language, both written and oral.

NATO International School of Azerbaijan offers an unpaid job within NISA. Successful
candidates after probation period will be presented with an opportunity to continue their career
with NISA on paid basis.

Interns are responsible for their own health and accident insurance. A certificate confirming such
a cover will be required to be signed by the foreign nationals.

After three months of service, interns shall be entitled to leave (including sick leave) at the rate
of 2 working days for every month of service completed.

Interns will be responsible individually for fulfilling all administrative formalities required by the
host nation, including registration in their local commune.

NISA Task Divisions
NATO International School of Azerbaijan offers an unpaid job within NISA Task Divisions to
students and graduates of international relations, political and social sciences, globalization,
public governance and other related disciplines.

This unpaid jobs are unique in its form since it offers a chance to become familiar with the
working structure of NGO and NATO related affairs as well as organizing social and academic
events, conducting research, creating bonds with different international organizations and
fundraising projects.

NISA offers below listed Task Divisions to the applied students for participating in order to
